“In the course of the afternoon and early evening, fierce showers will move across the country from west to east. It can rain heavily and there is a chance of hail and heavy wind gusts. Wind gusts of 75 to 85 km/h are possible around these showers,” says Johnny Willemsen of Weeronline. The heaviest showers are expected during the evening rush hour. The heaviest showers will pass over the country approximately between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
“Severe gusts of wind can be a nuisance to traffic, especially for empty trucks, vans and cars with trailers. Intense precipitation can also cause poor visibility for a short time and there is a risk of aquaplaning,” says Willemsen.
Tonight the showers will move towards Germany and broad clear spells will follow. New showers will pass over the country next night. Winter precipitation is possible with these showers, but because the wind continues to blow strongly, there will be no frost and winter precipitation will not or hardly remain in most places. Very locally, especially in the Northern Netherlands, the grass can turn white for a while during a fierce shower with hail or wet snow.
