Heavy rain in Italy: 900 people evacuated | Abroad

Due to heavy rainfall and flooding in Italy, about 900 people were evacuated on Tuesday in the Emilia-Romagna region and in the Marches. This was reported by the Italian news agency ANSA.

The evacuations were carried out in areas along the Adriatic coast. Several streams and rivers have burst their banks or are on the verge of flooding.

Quickly cleared

In the Marches, among other things, the emergency department of a hospital in Senigallia, near the regional capital Ancona, had to be evacuated. The fire service also reports fallen trees, landslides and stranded cars. Rail links were also closed and schools were closed in several cities.

Due to the strong wind and the risk of high waves, municipalities on the Adriatic Sea have also closed access to the beaches.

There are no reports of casualties.
