Heavy fine and suspended sentence for AZ after riots against West Ham United

AZ has received a hefty fine from UEFA after the disturbances against West Ham United. After the semi-final of the Conference League on May 18, things got completely out of hand in Alkmaar. AZ must pay 80,125 euros in fines and received a suspended sentence of one European match without an audience with a probationary period of two years.

Fans of AZ forced a fence of a stand behind the goal after the match lost by their club (0-1). They then stormed into the main stand as West Ham United fans celebrated victory and their place in the Conference League final. The club from Alkmaar handed out 43 stadium bans a week after the riots.

AZ was fined 50,000 euros because of the disturbances. In addition, there was a fine of more than 7,000 euros because objects were thrown, 8,000 euros for blocking access roads and 15,000 euros for setting off fireworks by fans.
