Shock moment in the wind farm! A heavy-duty crane fell over during the dismantling of wind turbines near Elsterwerda (Elbe-Elster district). With a lot of luck there were no injuries, but the environment is suffering extremely.
According to fitters, the crane suddenly tipped over after dismantling the first of three 25-year-old wind turbines.
The accident happened when moving the 500-ton special vehicle.
The State Environment Agency is now examining the damage caused to the agricultural areas, as large quantities of engine and hydraulic oil as well as diesel fuel leaked out and seeped into the soil on the field.
According to initial estimates, the total damage could have been around ten million euros.
