What is the warm-up bonus

The support measure will be activated automatically if this winter were also characterized by an increase in gas prices. However, the details are not yet clear on how the contribution will work and on the award criteria, but according to the most accredited voices, the heating bonus will be included in the new Energy Decree which will arrive today Monday 25th September on the table of the Council of Ministers.

How does it work

Starting from October 1st and until December 31st 2023, resident domestic customers will be granted a contribution paid in a fixed amount and differentiated based on the climate zones that will offset any increase in gas prices recorded on the monthly payments of October, November and December 2023. Therefore, the aid it will only be triggered in the event of an increase in energy prices. At the moment, it must be said that we are quite far from the figure that would trigger the bonus, however it is also predictable that the colder we get, the greater the risk of a price increase.

Amounts and requirements

As regards the requirements and the amounts paid, we must wait for the decree, what is known, however, is that There will be no income limits. The bonus, in fact, will be paid regardless of the ISEE and the only parameter taken as reference will be the increase in gas-related expenses. Furthermore, it will be automatically recognized in the bill following the one in which the price increase was detected.

Differentiated heating bonus

Another thing that is certain is that the incentive is not available to those who already enjoy the social bonus, paid to support the increases in electricity and gas bills and recognized with ISEE not exceeding 15 thousand euros, 30 thousand in the case of large families with at least 4 dependent children. The latter, moreover, has an expiry date of 30 September, despite the fact that the Meloni government had declared its intention to extend it beyond that date. Finally, the bonus will be based on a differentiated mechanism, that is, citizens who live in the “colder” climate zones of Italy will receive a higher amount (therefore forced to make more use of the heating system).
