Jonas Hoffmann was the best German at the Ironman Frankfurt. The surprising thing: at the finish he still looked dazzling. That was also due to heat training.

Best German, I am really happy, even if the heat was really brutal when running on the main.”

But Hoffmann defied the embers with temperatures of 35 degrees, his special heat training in advance three times a week at home in Butzbach: “I sat in winter clothing, i.e. with a long sweater, rain jacket and hat on the indoor bike, once in the sun on the balcony, it looked pretty funny for the neighbors.” Hoffmann achieved the strong fifth place on his doorstep, after all, the Frankfurter Römer is only a 30 kilometer as the crow flies from Butzbach, the bike route less than ten kilometers.
Hoffmann also accelerated that. The 28-year-old showed a class performance, especially with his somewhat weaker disciplines swimming and cycling. “Anyone who has known me for a long time knows that I often start the run with a gap from swimming and cycling, this time I already had friends tears on my face when I was full when I was cycling.”
Hoffmann: First top performance, then “feet raising”
Hoffmann made giant progress while swimming and cycling. You can see that from his results in Frankfurt. In 2024 he rose from the water of the Langener Waldsee, after cycling, was in 21st place. This time a completely different picture in 2025: 14th place after swimming and twelfth after cycling. The good fifth place in the overall ranking can be explained this time. “I am incredibly happy to keep up with the big boys.”
The next goal is now the Ironman World Cup in Nice on September 14th. He was looking forward to it, Hoffmann smiled in the target interview on Sunday in the HR camera, but then honestly to say: “But now I’m looking forward to a little feet.”
