The interrogation of Joseph Blatter in the trial of allegations of fraud and other offenses against him and Michel Platini has been postponed.
The 86-year-old former FIFA President reported health problems before the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona, Switzerland. “High Court, I’m not feeling well. I have a complaint that comes back, then I can’t breathe properly either. I don’t see myself in a position to answer,” said Blatter. According to lawyer Lorenz Erni, his client has chest pains and breathing difficulties. Blatter’s hearing is now scheduled to take place on Thursday, as is the testimony of former UEFA President Michel Platini.
The two defendants are accused of having deceived the world association about an allegedly outstanding claim by Platini. According to the indictment, Blatter is said to have unlawfully confirmed FIFA’s payment of two million francs (currently around 1.92 million euros) plus social security contributions to Platini.
