Health Council issues advice on second booster shot | Inland

Kuipers wants to hear from the Health Council whether it is necessary to carry out a new booster campaign “in the coming months” and whether it will help control the pandemic. For example, he wants to know whether all adults should then be offered a booster shot or only people from risk groups. The minister also asks which vaccines should be used and how much time should elapse between the second booster and the last shot.

Kuipers’ predecessor, Hugo de Jonge, had previously taken into account at least three more booster rounds. The first of these would be in the second quarter of this year, so in April, May or June. Another round would follow in the fall, and there could be another campaign next year.

The current booster campaign started in November. Nearly 8.8 million adults have now received such a boost. That equates to 61.3 percent of all adults.
