‘He wants to create something that isn’t there’

Jan Smit thinks that Aran Bade is really being very riotous. According to his manager, the RTL Boulevard reporter is trying to create something that is not there. “This is useless publicity.”

It is an open secret that Jan Smit was completely at odds with the previous Eurovision Song Contest selection committee. He was the only one who was strongly against the entry of the off-key singing couple Mia & Dion. Now he has quietly announced his complete departure from the song festival, including as a commentator. And that’s strange.

Very nice interview

Aran Bade, star reporter for RTL Boulevard, thinks it is really nonsense that Jan links his departure as commentator to his new weekly radio program. As if he wouldn’t have been able to do that if he had remained a Eurovision commentator. So there is something behind that and to illustrate that Aran has done something very false.

What has Aran done? After eight months, he aired a very nasty interview with Jan. It has never been broadcast before to protect the folk singer from himself, but now the time is right because it says something about his Eurovision exit, according to Aran. Jan is very mean when he is asked about the song festival.

A little irritated

Telegraaf star reporter Jordi Versteegden is amazed by the images. “He gets a little irritated,” he says in the podcast Strictly Private.

Private boss Evert Santegoeds: “Yes, I like that too. I would be the same with that man with his orange floppy head. Er, I mean pop hood (he means pop hood, ed.). Well, competitor of Shownieuws… They always act so bad about us. I like that he responds honestly.”

Useless publicity

What does Jan’s manager think? He says to Jordi: “Jan enjoyed doing the Eurovision Song Contest for about ten years, but at a certain point it was fun. Aran is trying to create something that isn’t there and Jan wasn’t looking for useless publicity.”

Evert finally: “I don’t know when it was fun, because I always thought it was the worst thing Jan Smit did in his career.”
