‘He sells rubbish by the kilo!’

It really bothers Renze Klamer that Arie Boomsma promotes the use of all kinds of nutritional supplements, because according to him there is a scientific consensus that 98 percent of people do not need them at all. However, Arie’s alternative facts say something different; he thinks Renze is just a naive.

“It’s trash!”

Youp van ‘t Hek supports the talk show host in his media feud with the fitness father from Abcoude. “There was a lot of fuss again recently because he was treated too hard by Renze. It was about Arie’s wind trade in supplements,” he writes in his column in the VARA guide.

According to Youp, there is something to it. “According to scientists, all those powders, pills and drops are nonsense, while Arie, who deals in this junk, deeply believes in it.”

Sneezing powder

Arie is just trying to cash in, says Youp. “I was reminded of medieval fairs where these kinds of self-proclaimed miracle doctors always tried to sell sneezing powder to help stupid people get rid of their colds. Because that’s all it is. Just selling nonsense by the kilo. Arie does that. And he does it well.”

Finally, Youp laughs at the cross hanging from Arie’s ear. “When Arie, with that cross dangling comfortably from his earlobe, tells me that he occasionally does a few push-ups between folding the laundry, I can’t get that image out of my happy head for weeks. Especially that cross that keeps going back and forth.”
