Renze Klamer completely ruined the emotional moment with Youp van ‘t Hek in his talk show, says critic Harry Vermeegen. “He completely ruined it with his nonsense.”
It is a blessing for Renze Klamer that Eva Jinek has left RTL 4, because it has created much more space for his own program. But in the long term, is this really what the channel wants to convey in the late evening? Middle-of-the-road TV? A presenter who is neither meat nor fish? Time will tell.
Field mouse
However, according to media critic Harry Vermeegen, one thing is certain: Renze is currently still a size too small. He points to the emotional moment with Youp van ‘t Hek that took place last week in his talk show. Youp came to promote a benefit show and it sold out while he was still busy with his PR talk. He couldn’t believe it.
Harry has seen it too and understands Youp’s emotions. “Yes I understand that. It’s been hit. It fills up. Well, and then you get Renze, who indeed has the empathy of a field mouse. Who can’t deal with a moment like that on TV at all. He then starts shouting all the time: ‘Oh, how beautiful! Oh, how beautiful!’ Against that Youp!”, he says YouTube.
Nice nice
It seemed as if Renze was getting a little uncomfortable with it. “That Youp is sitting there with tears in his eyes and he thinks: what should I do with this, with you beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. And then such a Renze also hangs on to that moment, like: oh, oh, we have a bit of emotion in the broadcast, we’re going to zoom in on that. How annoying that is!”
He continues: “And then also say to that Youp: ‘You are a much more sensitive man than we all ever thought.’ And again! Instead of Renze just shutting up… Leave the moment! And it was a really moving moment, but Renze completely ruined it with all his nonsense.”
‘Do not say anything!’
What should Renze have done better? Harry: “Just don’t say anything, shed that tear and talk on and on. That’s all moving enough! But our Renze doesn’t understand that at all, so Youp: a request from me. If you fill up again somewhere in the future, don’t do it at Renze.”
He concludes: “It just bothers me, that Renze. It’s been lately, those interviews that he can’t do anything about. With Arie Boomsma, he just sits there chopping and chopping, I don’t know, it doesn’t make any progress. And then Douwe Bob came along and he started chatting constantly. Good day, it’s all very mediocre.”
