After the death of Wolfgang Petersen, actress Diane Lane remembers the director. Her heart is sad, she announced in a statement. Lane collaborated with Petersen in 2000’s Perfect Storm, in which she took on the female lead.
“Wolfgang was a big, loving soul,” wrote the 57-year-old. His “positive encouragement” made him a “natural leader” who could move everyone through “ups and downs”. “Just being around him made me a better actress.” She sends her “sincere condolences” to his family.
The Lower Saxon in Hollywood
“Perfect Storm” is about a group of American fishermen who get caught in a huge storm. Diane Lane also stars George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg and John C. Reily in the film, which is based on a true story. Petersen had already arrived in Hollywood as a director with works like the Clint Eastwood vehicle In The Line Of Fire.
The Lower Saxon made his international breakthrough in the 1980s with “Das Boot”. Petersen was suddenly a star. He later did movies like Air Force One with Harrison Ford and Troy with Brad Pitt. The director died of pancreatic cancer on August 12 at the age of 81.
