Geert Wilders finds it very strange that the editors of Twan Huys have not invited him to the College Tour election debate. “He’s just a PVV hater.”
The Twan Huys show College Tour is organizing a TV debate for the first time in the run-up to the House of Representatives elections. On Sunday, October 22, Dilan Yesilgöz (VVD), Frans Timmermans (GroenLinks-PvdA), Pieter Omtzigt (NSC) and Caroline van der Plas (BBB) will debate live with a room full of students.
PVV is not there
It is not exactly clear what the criteria are for inviting the party leaders. This concerns the three parties that are highest in the polls and the BBB, number five in the polls. Number four, the PVV, is not in the party.
In any case, College Tour emphasizes that the selected party leaders have all previously been guests in the program. Frans already in 2014, Pieter last year and the two ladies this year. “We hope for personal and political questions and a lively debate that sheds light on the differences between the parties,” said Twan.
At Geert’s office
Wilders never came to the College Tour, although he was invited. According to Twan, he even visited the politician’s office. “To ask him if he wanted to be my very first guest. Then Wilders said: ‘I’m participating, but I don’t know when yet.’ I asked him a few more times after that, but in the end he never did it.”
And now he is not allowed to participate in the election debate. Too bad, says Wilders. He writes down X: “PVV hater Twan Huys did NOT invite me to the TV debate despite the fact that the PVV is now the fourth largest party in all polls.”
200 thousand times
Wilders’ complaint has already been viewed almost 200,000 times on X. “Scandalous! He really makes himself known like this,” responds one Desiree. And Leroy: “This is not a debate Geert, this is an echo chamber. Call it for what it is.”
There are also people who point out to the politician that he himself is always very cautious with media appearances. “You never want to get into those, as you say, left-wing programs, do you?”
