Arjen Lubach does not understand at all that until recently Wim Kieft could be seen in gambling advertisements. “He has been addicted to alcohol and cocaine for years!”, said the presenter.
Last weekend it was exactly one year ago that online gambling was legalized and Arjen Lubach made an item about that in his Evening Show yesterday. Recently, the government banned the use of celebrities for gambling advertising any longer, so that types like Andy van der Meijde and Wesley Sneijder miss out on lucrative income.
Wim addict
Wim Kieft was also featured in those gambling commercials and Arjen Lubach finds that really ridiculous. “Was that last one Wim Kieft?” said the presenter in his item about gambling.
Colleague Diederik Smit: “That was very much Wim Kieft.”
Arjen with a pointing finger: “But he himself has been addicted to alcohol and cocaine for years, all books have been written about that.”
‘Gosh, inspiring’
Diederik: “Yes, and now he uses his experiences to say to the young generation: ‘Don’t get addicted to alcohol and cocaine, but to gambling!’”
Arjen: “Gosh, how inspiring, isn’t it? Who were those other people then?”
Diederik: “Yes, those are other former football players with a backpack. We saw Andy van der Meijde, Sneijder. But this advertising is no longer allowed.”
