‘He can’t take it anymore’

After his noisy performance at Op1, Gordon not only canceled Frank Dane’s radio show, but also his performances at HLF8 and Shownieuws. “He’s not pulling all this excitement.”

Gordon’s Op1 performance has caused quite a stir. The day before yesterday in that talk show he shared a controversial opinion about the Qatar issue, which led to one of the table guests deciding to walk away from the broadcast. Because of that hassle, he decided a day later, yesterday, to cancel his appearance on Frank Dane’s radio show.

Gordon stays at home

It now appears that Gordon has canceled his entire media tour to promote his new TV program Kookklunzen – the premiere on SBS 6 is tonight – and he flew to the Netherlands for nothing. For example, he did not show up at HLF8 and Shownieuws last night.

Show news expert Evert Santegoeds in yesterday’s broadcast: “Several chairs were set up for him. Not only with Frank Dane on the air, but also tonight at HLF8. He was supposed to appear everywhere and this morning he let it be known that he doesn’t quite get all this excitement anyway. That’s why he canceled.”

‘He is quiet’

Not only HLF8, but also Shownieuws had an appointment with Gordon. “He was also supposed to come to us, but he also canceled that, so Gordon is silent and that is new.”

What does Evert think? “I don’t really know what to think about it. He expresses his opinion about Qatar and he actually did so on the basis of his own experiences in Dubai. I think they are still two very different countries.”

Comparison with limp

Downplaying the suffering in Qatar is misplaced by Evert. “To say that we should not all point to Qatar, because the rights there are just as violated as they used to be with us during slavery… That is a bit flawed.”

Colleague Sandra Schuurhof: “I totally disagree with what he says, but in the end he can say what he wants. I just think that Fleur (the Op1 runaway, ed.) may not have been completely comfortable. I think she didn’t feel safe sitting at that table when those kinds of opinions were expressed.”

Tooske sneer

All in all, Gordon’s new program Kookklunzen will premiere tonight on SBS 6. In addition to Gordon, Herman den Blijker also has a role in that program. “And with me. Then it will still be fun,” Tooske Ragas sneered in Shownieuws.

Then laughing: “No, Gordon, there’s nothing wrong.”
