HCAW defeats Amsterdam to go to Holland Series for first time since 2005

Big party in Bussum after the baseball-players of HCAW have been able to qualify again for the Holland Series, the final for the national championship. HCAW in the best-of-five series against Amsterdam Pirates today won its fourth game, 3-1, and can no longer be overtaken by its fellow provincial with one game left.

HCAW took the lead in the first at bat after Victor Draijer came in thanks to a double single by Kevin Dirksen. In the tying third inning, coach Danny Rombley’s squad doubled the score. Reigning champions Amsterdam narrowed the score to 2-1 in the fifth inning, but a home-run by Victor Draijer in the eighth inning eventually led to the tie: 3-1.

In the Holland Series, HCAW will play against Rotterdam-based Neptunus. The best-of-seven series for the national title will be played between Thursday 8 and Sunday 25 September.
