Javier Milei became international news. And not because of some genius he has done or because of some revolutionary proposal, but because the renowned comedian John Oliver made an editorial mocking him. Or, rather, laughing at Conan, the libertarian’s dog. The leader of La Libertad Avanza reached the entire world.
“It’s hard for me to criticize him,” the Last Week Tonight host began. The comedian had first posted a fragment of an interview from the beginning of the year by Esteban Trebucq to Milei, in which he was branded after an image of Conan was shown. That is also the beginning of the book “El Loco”, by NOTICIAS journalist Juan Luis González. The text started with that scene because there Milei said that she “didn’t know how old Conan was” because the animal was already “so big” that she “couldn’t count.” “But Milei does not say in that note that Conan is dead, that he died in 2017,” said the Editorial Planeta book.
Oliver returned to that interview to joke about Milei. “I would react the same if I saw a photo of Conan,” says the comedian, but he was referring to the popular host Conan O’Brien. The sketch ended with O’Brien himself appearing to “challenge” Oliver. Milei, it turns out, reached everyone. She watches the full video.
