HBO is already paying for the second season of “House of the Dragon” after the first episode

The Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon is just getting started, but HBO is apparently more than pleased with the success. Immediately after the start of the first season, the broadcaster already commissioned a second. In the US alone, a total of 20 million viewers have already seen the first episode of the series.

House of the Dragon is the first spin-off to the blockbuster fantasy series Game of Thrones. While in the main series Princess Daenerys tries to reclaim her throne as the last heir of the House of Targaryen, everything revolves around the Targaryens in the spin-off set 200 years earlier. The series tells the story of a civil war between rival factions of the family and is based on the book Fire and Blood in which George RR Martin tells the story of the Targaryens.

Because the series takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, familiar characters are unlikely to appear. In the course of the series, it became known that the sorceress Melisandre was already hundreds of years old. At least in theory, nothing stands in the way of an appearance in the spin-off. actress As a precaution, Carice Van Houten has already announcedthat she could imagine slipping back into her old role.

House of the Dragon also stars Paddy Considine as the aging King Viserys and Emma D’Arcy and Milly Alcock as his daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen. Matt Smith (“Doctor Who”) can also be seen as Viserys’ brother with ambitions for the throne.
