Handball Bundesliga club TBV Lemgo Lippe has signed former national player Nicolai Theilinger for the coming season.
The 31-year-old backcourt player will move to East Westphalia after his contract with league rival HSV Hamburg expires and will receive a contract there until the summer of 2025. Theilinger played two games for Germany in 2017 under the then national coach Christian Prokop.
“I’m very pleased to have gained such a Bundesliga-experienced player like Nicolai for our team,” said TBV trainer Florian Kehrmann, who won the World Cup at home with the German selection in 2007: “He brings great defense strength to his position, has in the past, however, he has always shown a very good eye for his team-mates.”
“Flo Kehrmann and the entire club have been doing great work for many years and have always been able to celebrate great successes,” said Theilinger, who also played for FA Göppingen and HC Erlangen in the Bundesliga: “I’m happy to do my part from next season to be able to contribute to it and I’m already looking forward to the team and the fans.”
