HBL: Rear light Hamm awards Big Point

ASV Hamm-Westfalen kept its minimal chance of staying in the Handball Bundesliga (HBL) alive, but awarded a big point.

In a dramatic game on Saturday, the bottom team fought their way 27:27 (11:11) against TVB Stuttgart, but with five games to go they are still seven points behind HSG Wetzlar in the first non-relegation zone.

In an exciting game, the bottom of the table was even in the lead shortly before the end, but gave it up in less than a minute.

Fabian Huesmann saved the well-deserved point for Westphalia with a seven-metre throw with the final siren in front of 2190 spectators. For Stuttgart, the draw means the sixth point from the last four games, so the Swabians are on the verge of salvation.

Meanwhile, TBV Lemgo Lippe managed a hard-fought 36:33 (20:17) victory against Frisch Auf Göppingen. Coach Florian Kehrmann’s team kept their nerves in the fourth duel of the season with the European League semi-finalists in an exciting final phase and secured a point in the middle of the table.
