HBL: Melsungen keeps a clean slate

MT Melsungen is still unstoppable in the handball Bundesliga. The team around captain Timo Kastening celebrated its fifth win in the fifth game of the season on Friday after beating TVB Stuttgart 35:27 (23:13) and thus remains at the top of the table for the time being. Ivan Martinovic shone for North Hesse with seven goals.

After victories over FA Göppingen, SC DHfK Leipzig and HSV Hamburg last Sunday, Melsungen also surprisingly defeated champions THW Kiel (35:30) in a foreign hall. The hosts got off to a brilliant start against Stuttgart and decided the game before the break. After the break, the league leaders slowed down the game in a controlled manner.

In the promoted duel, ThSV Eisenach and HBW Balingen-Weilstetten separated 28:28 (14:14). Both teams got off to a good start to the season with two wins, one draw and two defeats.

Apart from Melsungen, only the Füchse Berlin are still without a loss point. The capital city team can draw level with MT on points again on Sunday in the home game against TSV Hannover-Burgdorf, which started with two wins and a draw (3 p.m./Dyn).
