Hawaiians on Electric Company Heavy Vehicles on Roads During Wildfires: “You’re Cutting Us Off Our Escape Route When There’s No Other Way Out?”

The main escape route from the city of Lahaina during the deadly wildfires on the Hawaiian island of Maui was partially blocked by the wreckers of the Hawaiian Electric power company. Some survivors of the disaster are complaining about this. Hawaiian Electric was cleaning up the broken pipes and replacing the broken power poles. Many Hawaiians are pointing the finger at the utility as jointly responsible for the fires, which left at least 110 dead. The damage is estimated at around 7 billion euros.
