This is what the band asks its followers on social media. The rock band that gained popularity in the 1990s says that they are looking for a new guitarist, and anyone can send their resume for the band to see. Naturally, candidates are also expected to have “material related to the topic”.
– The application process is open to anyone who might be interested, the band writes in X.
Originally formed in the late 1980s, The Smashing Pumpkins gained recognition for their sound. The group reaped commercial success in the 1990s, among other things, with their hits 1979, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Disarm and Today. The band was one of the most successful alternative rock bands of its time until its breakup in 2000.
Founding member, songwriter and frontman Billy Corgan started the project again in 2006. Among the original members, guitarist James Iha and the drummer Jimmy Chamberlin later joined the new line-up.
Jeff Schroeder filled in as guitarist for The Smashing Pumpkins from 2007 to 2023, until he announced his departure from the band. Now the band plans to complete its ranks with a fourth member before the European tour starting in the summer.
Over the summer, The Smashing Pumpkins will be performing on a stadium tour with Green Day, Rancid and Linda Lindas – and maybe just the line-up you’re perfecting.
