Havaianas parent Alpargatas appoints Liel Miranda as CEO

The Brazilian shoe supplier Alpargatas SA has found a new boss. On Wednesday, the parent company of the Havaianas brand announced that Liel Miranda had been appointed CEO by the board of directors.

Miranda will take over the position on February 1 next year, the company said. He will then succeed Luiz Fernando Edmond, who has led the group as interim CEO since Roberto Funari resigned in April. Edmond will remain a member of the board of directors after Miranda joins and will support the new CEO to ensure a successful transition, according to a statement.

The designated CEO comes from the US food manufacturer Mondelēz International, whose Brazil business he has headed since 2019. At Alpargatas, Miranda will play a key role in continuing the ongoing transformation process aimed at simplified structures and greater efficiency, the shoe supplier explained. He will also be responsible for implementing the new strategies with which the group wants to achieve sustainable growth.
