Hattrick Sven Braken gives VVV-Venlo victory over Telstar | 1Limburg

VVV-Venlo has taken revenge in front of its own audience for the heavy defeat in the previous home game against ADO Den Haag. In a well-filled stadium De Koel, Jos Luhukay’s team beat Telstar 3-2. Sven Braken signed for all Venlo goals.

The Venlonians eagerly started the game against Telstar, but that did not create any chances in the first minutes against the White Lions from Velsen-IJmuiden. The visitors showed little or nothing in the initial phase and there was no spectacle in the first fifteen minutes.

Vomiting opens score
VVV found no openings in the Telstar defense in the first twenty minutes of the game, although a pass from Rayan El Azrak to Joeri Schroijen created the first major danger. Five minutes later, the Venlonians opened the scoring. A cross from the left was headed by a Telstar defender in front of Sven Braken, who shot the ball low over the ground into the goal: 1-0. The home team created opportunities, but Joeri Schroijen headed the ball wide of the goal, then encountered goalkeeper Abdel el Ouazzane and saw another attempt which turned into a corner.

Opportunities for Telstar
On the other side, Kees de Boer prevented the equalizer by throwing himself in front of the ball and blocking a shot by Giovanni Manson Robeiro. Telstar got even more chances in the final phase of the first half to even the score. A free kick by Özan Kökcü on the edge of the box went wide and Jay Kruiver saw his shot on goal disappear over the back line.

Second half
Telstar got a better grip on the match immediately after the break, was close to the equalizer after a few minutes, but shortly afterwards had to concede the second goal from VVV-Venlo. Kees de Boer intercepted the ball, shot the ball to Carl Johansson, who served Joeri Schroijen, after which Sven Braken completed the attack with a goal.

hat trick
Five minutes later the ball was again in the goal of coach Andries Jonker’s men. Once again it was Sven Braken who hit the ball after Johansson’s preparatory work and crowned himself ‘man of the match’ with a real hat trick: 3-0.

Telstar is back
Telstar looked defeated, but came back strong. Fifteen minutes before the end, Ozgur Aktas reduced the deficit for the White Lions to 3-1 with a header and five minutes later the tension was back in the game. The VVV defense couldn’t get the ball out of the box, after which captain Glynor Plet shot the ball in hard: 3-2.

VVV had to pull out all the stops in the final phase to keep Telstar off the table and were lucky enough when Giovanni Manson Robeiro squandered the equalizer chance by shooting the ball high over the goal. It remained 3-2 and with that the Venlonians booked a nice, but cramped victory.
