Hatred of Jews rages on Berlin’s streets

By Josef Forster and Filipp Piatov

Jew-haters, completely unhindered on German streets!

At the weekend, hundreds – mostly young men – gathered at Berlin’s Alexanderplatz (Sunday) and at the Brandenburg Gate (Saturday). With only one goal: to publicly express their contempt for Israel. And to show: WE are in charge on the German streets.

Now the police union and politicians are sounding the alarm. And make it clear: an Islamist parallel society has developed in Germany – and the government has looked the other way for far too long!

Ahmad Tamim, a member of the “Generation Islam” group, preached to around 800 participants under the television tower in the German capital. He complained, among other things, that freedom of expression regarding Palestinians was “severely restricted.” And the quantity? Chanted “Free free Palestine.” The saying that stands for the destruction of Israel.

A group called “Generation Islam” on What do you think would happen if a demo had been called for?”

At around 8 p.m., participants ended the pro-Palestinian demonstration. Some were still praying on site.

The prayer that Muslims had “invited” to the Brandenburg Gate the day before also took place without police intervention. Because it went “without any problems,” as the police said.

Mind you: a disruption-free prayer that was intended to be nothing more than a demonstration of power in front of the landmark of the German capital.

Just a few kilometers away, on Sonnenallee in Berlin’s Neukölln district: the stronghold of anti-Jewish protests. Since the terrorist attack on Israel on October 7th, Hamas murderers have been glorified and the Israeli victims mocked. Day after day again.

Not just in Berlin. Since Hamas’ attack on Israel, thousands of violent people have been gathering on Germany’s streets to celebrate a brutal attack on the Israeli civilian population and to chant anti-Semitic slogans.

The constitutional state appears powerless. Cars and garbage cans are set on fire by the rioters. And the worst: the police officers on duty are threatened and attacked.

“Our emergency services experience the hatred of Israel and Judaism directly; they are the projection surface for many of the radical Islamists, which is why the violence is directed against them,” says Rainer Wendt (66), head of the German Police Union, to BZ.

Wendt knows that stones and incendiary devices are being thrown at police officers these days. He doesn’t want to repeat the terrible insults that his colleagues have to hear on the streets.

Just this much: “The perpetrators always make it clear what they think of our social order and its representatives, namely nothing. They mock our constitutional state, mock it and despise it. They consider tolerance and the rule of law to be weakness and ridiculous retreat. Our colleagues experience a complete parallel society in the middle of Germany,” says the head of the German Police Union.

▶︎ NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (71, CDU) sounds the alarm to BZ: “The hatred of Israel and the anti-Semitism that we are seeing these days is firmly anchored in people’s minds. No education will help, no government programs will help.”

His conclusion: “The Arab community in particular has a serious problem here.” The community must ask itself how it should behave in Germany, which “takes up the cause of the integrity of Israel.” Reul continues: “Everyone Those who live in Germany must understand that hatred of Jews and anti-Semitism do not belong in our country.”

CDU General Secretary Carsten Linnemann (46): “In Germany people looked the other way for far too long. Anti-Semitic statements in schoolyards were not taken seriously. But now things are getting serious. Now hopefully everyone can see that we have a big problem with political Islam, of which hatred of Jews is an essential component.”

Linnemann continued: “What was previously thought and said more or less in secret is now being announced loudly in public places.” Many in politics have looked the other way for too long. Linnemann’s tough demand: “Anyone who agitates against Jews and questions Israel’s right to exist must be punished quickly and harshly.” Namely, by “expelling Israel haters and stopping the immigration of anti-Semites,” said Linnemann.

AFTER ALL: The Office for the Protection of the Constitution has the hate preachers from Alexanderplatz on its radar. According to the domestic secret service, the “Generation Islam” is linked to “Hizb ut-Tahrir”, which has been banned from operating in Germany. The organization was banned in 2003 for anti-Israel incitement.
