Another case of Jew hatred in the capital! State security is investigating anti-Semitism: In Lichtenberg, an Israeli local operator was a victim – not for the first time.
Around 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, the police were called to the “Morgen wird Better” bar on Hagenstrasse. An employee (32) had discovered a note on a display case in front of the restaurant in which the Israeli operator (49) was insulted and threatened – in Hebrew. Officers removed the document and took it to forensic science for assessment.
District Mayor Michael Grunst (left) commented on the incident on Twitter: “I am appalled by this renewed attack or the threat of ‘Tomorrow will be better’ and I deeply condemn this incident on behalf of the Lichtenberg district office.” And further: “The Lichtenberg’s civil society is not intimidated by this. We stand united and together against anti-Semitism and racism – there is no place for that in Lichtenberg.”
Until August 2020, the restaurant was located on Fanningerstraße. At that time it burned out completely in the early morning hours. The police investigated because of serious arson. It is a miracle that no one was injured at that time – there were apartments above the business premises.
The year before, strangers had broken into the bar and spilled drinks over the facility and stole the cash register. Threatening phone calls were not uncommon, skinheads had first eaten in the restaurant, then mobbed around.
According to an investigator, the owner seems to be the focus of right-wing extremists. “The material damage is bad enough. But the fear of violence weighs much worse.”
Any police station will receive relevant information about the new politically motivated crime and the incidents that preceded it.
