Hate speech: Facebook accuses a rise of 82%

There has been an increase of about 82 percent in the hate speech on social media platform Facebook and a 86 percent of violent and inciting content in Instagramaccording to a monthly report published by Goal.

Most of the content in the report is based on algorithmic detection by social media platforms before users report them. According to the report published in June, Facebook detected 53,200 hate speech in April, 82% more than the 38,600 detected in March, on which the platform took action.

The report showed that Instagram acted on 77,000 contents related to violence and incitement in April, compared to 41,300 in March.

We measure the number of pieces of contentsuch as posts, photos, videos or comments, on which we take action for going against our standards,” Meta said.

“This metric shows the scale of our compliance activity. Taking action includes delete a piece of Facebook or Instagram content, or cover photos or videos that may be disturbing to some audiences with a warning,” the report said.
