Manju Malhotra, who serves in the role of CEO at Harvey Nichols, is leaving the British luxury retailer by the end of the year.
Malhotra, who is said to have resigned, has not yet commented on this. Previously, there had reportedly been a conflict of strategy with the owners of the business. She assumed the CEO role in 2020 and has been with the retail company for 25 years. Dickson Poon, owner of Harvey Nichols, has appointed his son Pearson Poon as Vice Chairman until a suitable successor is found.
“Harvey Nichols notes recent press coverage alleging a dispute between CEO Manju Malhotra and the Harvey Nichols shareholder. The group would like to reiterate that this is not true,” a spokesperson told FashionUnited. “The departure is amicable and Manju has honored her notice period to ensure a smooth transition. It is also not true that Harvey Nichols owned Dickson Concepts, a Hong Kong listed company. Harvey Nichols owns Dickson Poon in his personal capacity and any investments made in Harvey Nichols over the past several years are by Dickson Poon in his personal capacity and not by Dickson Concepts.”
Harvey Nichols, an icon of British luxury, has struggled with a return to growth since the pandemic. The retailer posted a loss of £30m for the year ended May 2022.
