Olympic discus champion Christoph Harting does not spare his words when he shares his opinion on the position of Russian athletes.

Harting strongly criticized the president of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach. In March, the IOC, under Bach’s leadership, recommended that sports federations take individual Russian athletes back to international competitions.

Bach is also known to be an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

– It may be his personal decision to be a friend of a wanted mass murderer, but he and the IOC are ruining themselves this way. And they will drag us athletes with them, Harting told the German For Bild.

Harting hints that the IOC’s decision could even lead to an outcome similar to the massacre that took place during the 1972 Munich Olympics.

At that time, Palestinian terrorists took 12 Israeli Olympic athletes hostage. They murdered 11 of them.

– At the moment, I would not rule out violent riots in the Olympic village. In other words, imagine that they have to compete against the people who have murdered people in their own country.

Harting also raises the possibility that Russia could also force its citizens to use every opportunity to harm Ukraine and its athletes.

However, Harting is against Germany’s possible Olympic boycott.

In his opinion, only Russia and Belarus should be kept out of international games.

– I can’t imagine experiencing such a farce that I, as a Ukrainian athlete, would have to compete against Russian or Belarusian athletes.

Harting won Olympic gold in the discus throw in 2016 at the Rio Olympics.

Thomas Bach has received plenty of criticism for his decisions. PDO
