“Harry Potter” television series is scheduled to start on “Max” in 2026

JK Rowling is said to have already met with those responsible to discuss further details.

The start date for the “Harry Potter” series has been set. David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, made the announcement on Friday, February 23rd telephone conference known. The reboot is scheduled to start broadcasting on the “Max” channel in 2026. The creator of the magical universe, JK Rowling, has already met with experts to discuss the project, explained Zaslav. It is not yet clear where the series will be broadcast in Germany.

Seven seasons for seven books

More than ten years have passed since the last film in the series was filmed – that will soon change. Based on the books, seven seasons are planned for the new adaptation. “We have not been stingy with our enthusiasm for ‘Harry Potter’,” explained the CEO. The “HBO” and “Max” bosses, Casey Bloys and Channing Dungey as well as the chairman of “Warner Bros Television” met in London a few weeks ago to talk to JK Rowling.

This seems to be going well so far. “Both sides are excited to revive this franchise. Our conversations were great and we couldn’t be more excited about what lies ahead. “We can’t wait to share a decade of new stories with fans around the world on Max,” Zaslav announced. The first trailer announcing the project has been available for almost a year now.

No auditions for the cast yet

It is not yet clear when exactly the first episodes are planned and who could be considered as the cast of the TV series. The only thing that is certain is that Daniel Radcliffe, who played the role of Harry Potter in all eight film adaptations, will not be there. He had already explained this when the first rumors arose.

“We are in discussions with various writers to find out who will direct this series for us. The first step for us is to figure out who the showrunner is going to be, and once we figure that out, we can start making those [Casting-]to have conversations. The tricky part is the first two books, where the kids are younger, around 11 or 12,” said CEO Dungey.
