Harie Lavreysen (26) from Luyksgestel also put on a show on the final day of the European Bale Cycling Championships in Apeldoorn. He won gold in the keirin in front of packed stands again.
It is Lavreysen’s third gold medal this European Track Cycling Championship, after he won his third European title in the sprint on Saturday. The first gold was won in the team sprint on Friday.
In keirin, six riders sprint for the win after four rounds, after first starting off behind a moped. Defending champion Lavreysen kept the Pole Mateusz Rudyk and the Italian Stefano Moro behind him and could already cheer before he had crossed the finish line.
About five thousand fans honored Lavreysen in Apeldoorn as the king of the tournament.
