Harrie Lavreysen suffers rare sprint defeat, but keirin wins in Champions League | Sport

The 25-year-old Dutchman sprinted from the front in the final, but saw the Australian pass in the last straight. Jeffrey Hoogland was eliminated in the first round.

Lavreysen was previously the best in the keirin section, in which six sprinters compete for the win. De Brabander kept the German Stefan Bötticher and the Australian Matthew Richardson behind him. Hoogland was also stuck here in the first round. Lavereysen leads the classification for Richardson after two sprint parts.

Hetty van de Wouw finished second in the women’s sprint tournament. In the final she was defeated by the French Mathilde Gros. Shanne Braspennincx was eliminated in the semifinals.
