Writer and editor Harri Nykänen the death notice was published on Sunday in Helsingin Sanomat.

Nykänen was one of Finland’s most famous crime writers, and he is best known for the Raid book series. A quote from the book series is written on the death notice.

Raid jumped over the low fence of the cemetery and turned to his car. Yellow leaves were stuck to its surface. He got into his car, rolled the window all the way open and left the village via the old bridge.

In the death notice, Nykänen’s family and loved ones tell about their longing.

Nykänen died of a rapidly progressing illness in March of this year. He was 69 years old when he died.

Nykänen became known as a crime writer, but he also had a long career as a crime reporter. He worked at Helsingin Sanomat between 1981 and 2001. During his career as a journalist, he was awarded, among other things, the Lumilapio award for investigative journalism.

The first volume of the Raid book series written by Nykänen was published in 1992, and a total of 12 novels have been published.

In addition to Raid, Nykänen has written dozens of other detective stories. In addition, his autobiography Dirty Harri: 20 years as Erko’s ring was published in 2015.
