Harri Nykänen has died

The creator of the Raid character was 69 years old when he died.

Writer and editor Harri Nykänen is dead. Reported about it Helsingin sanomat newspaper.

Nykänen, who created the Raid character known from literature, TV series and movies, died of a rapidly progressing illness in Helsinki on Tuesday morning. The family confirmed the death to HS. He was 69 years old when he died.

Nykänen was one of Finland’s most famous crime writers, who also had a long career as a crime journalist. He worked at Helsingin Sanomat between 1981 and 2001. In 1994, Nykänen was awarded the Lumilapio prize for investigative journalism after reporting on the corruption of the police leadership. The first volume of the Raid book series written by Nykänen was published in 1992, and a total of 12 novels have been published.
