Harm Vanhoucke moves to Team DSM
The 25-year-old Vanhoucke made his debut at Lotto Soudal in 2018. He didn’t book a professional victory yet, but he already started in five big rounds (3x Giro, 2x Vuelta) and took the podium twice in a (difficult) Giro stage. This season, Vanhoucke finished second in the final standings of the Romanian Sibiu Tour and fifth in the Tour of Turkey.
“This team has already had a lot of success in Grand Tour classifications and has a lot of knowledge. It will be a new step in my career and I am curious to see how I will improve as a rider and what I will learn from the more experienced riders Vanhoucke says.
According to DSM’s head coach Rudi Kemna, Vanhoucke had “a very good U23 career” and took steps forward as a pro in every season. The team wants to further develop him as a climber. “As a 25-year-old he still has margin to improve. With a specific training and competition program that should be possible.”
Team DSM also announced the arrival of New Zealander Patrick Bevin on Friday. He comes over from Israel-Premier Tech at the age of 31 and signed for three years. Bevin won the Tour of Turkey this season and took a stage in the Tour de Romandie.
