The Haringvliet bridge on the A29 will be closed from 9:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday morning due to construction work on the bridge. Motorists should take diversions and extra travel time into account.
Rijkswaterstaat will replace concrete blocks on the bridge with steel partitions to relieve the bridge construction. In addition, the lanes on the bridge will be asphalted.
Since August last year, a reduced maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour has been applied on the Haringvliet Bridge. This measure was introduced because the clamps holding the road surface to the flap are vibrating loose due to traffic. Due to the reduced maximum speed, the bridge will be less loaded and it is expected that it can be used safely until the planned work on the valve in 2023.
Due to the closure, traffic in the Kiltunnel will not have to pay a toll this weekend. Various diversion routes are also indicated via, among others, the A16, A17 and A59. Rijkswaterstaat advises motorists to consult the AnaarBeter site.
