Telstar had enough chances against Jong AZ to keep the three points in Velsen-Zuid, but the focus was not yet clear enough in 2024. The score remained 1-1 and Youssef el Kachati in particular should have scored just before half-time. “One hundred percent. He should have been in,” said the striker White Lions.
The 24-year-old El Kachati, who came over from Quick Boys this summer, was out for a long time with an injury, but had a starting place against Jong AZ for the first time since September. “Nice to be back. Nice to be able to bring a lot of energy again.”
“Of course I’m looking for my first goal, but the most important thing is to keep going for it”
“If you look at what we created, there could have been a lot more. We dropped two points,” said El Kachati, who is not yet panicking about his goal drought. “As a striker it is never fun to be dry. Of course I am looking for my first goal, but the most important thing is to keep going for the team.”
Telstar coach Mike Snoei saw a ‘fresh’ Telstar against the talents from Alkmaar, especially in the first half, and sympathized with the unfortunate El Kachati. “It’s such a shame. He scored 25 at Quick Boys. After such a long injury, I am happy with the energy they bring.”
Telstar’s next match is on Friday, January 19. Then Mike Snoei’s team will visit the bottom of the first division: TOP Oss.
