Hard work from Harri Heliövaara in the USA – Jyräsi continues in two matches

Harri Heliövaara excelled in two different matches.

Harri Heliövaara and Lloyd Glasspool advanced in doubles from the opening round of the US Open.

The duo won Marcelo Melo/John Peers -pair 6–4, 7–6.

The Finnish-British pair decided the opening set in the first serving turn, when the duo was able to break the opponent’s pass.

In the second set, both pairs served well, but Glasspool’s strong serve saved the set point at 4–5. The solution was sought in the tie-break, where the Finnish-British pair was stronger.

Heliövaara/Glasspool progressed to the quarterfinals of the tournament last year.

– It got off to a good start. By no means a perfect match from us, but we did well enough and did enough of the right things. And of course we held all our own serves, that was enough today, good feelings, Heliövaara commented in the announcement of the Tennis Association.

The duo will next face the winners of the match John Isner/Jack SockRobert Galloway/ Albano Olivetti.

Heliövaara continued his toil also in the mixed doubles, when the Finnish and Anna Dalinina won by sixth-placed Matthew Ebden/Nicole Melichar–Martinez 6–3, 5–7, 10–7.
