Hard fall kills Sinkeldam: Zaankanter has to leave Tour de France

Ramon Sinkeldam did not make it to the end of the Tour de France. The rider from Assendelft crashed hard during the fourteenth stage and had to stop the fight. He had been complaining about his physical condition for several days.

The Dutchman of the Alpecin-Deceuninck cycling team is the first dropout among the Belgians. The Tour is extremely successful for them with four stage victories from sprinter Jasper Philipsen. Sinkeldam had to leave the Tour prematurely as the seventeenth rider.

The Tour de France will run until July 23.
