“Hard but fair”: Special on Rammstein becomes a ratings flop

Viewer numbers declining: The Rammstein topic interested fewer people than expected.

On June 19, the MDR talk show “Hart aber fair” dedicated a third program to the subject of Rammstein and the allegations of abuse against singer Till Lindemann. In contrast to the two previous broadcasts, the latest special was only able to attract far fewer viewers – and turned out to be a ratings flop.

With guests such as former music manager Thomas Stein, who recently backtracked on one of his statements about Lindemann, there was a heated debate about Row Zero, “black spaces” and abuse of power. Although the previous broadcasts of “Hart aber fair” on the subject attracted 2.13 and 2.2 million viewers, the rate dropped this time. Only 1.86 million followed the talk show.

The discussions on the Internet and among representatives from the entertainment industry do not yet indicate that a general oversaturation of the topic is beginning. A Berlin petition, which is trying to cancel the concerts planned for July in the capital, continues to receive votes. Money is also constantly being collected via a fundraiser for the alleged victims. Celebrities such as Dieter Nuhr and Harald Schmidt also commented on the subject.
