Fashion designer and TV celebrity Harald Glööckler believes in lucky charms.

“We’re all a bit superstitious,” said Glööckler of the German Press Agency. “I’m always happy when I see four-leaf clovers and I think they’re lucky.” On the other hand, he doesn’t believe that black cats mean bad luck, said the 58-year-old.

For a long time he carried a small Bible with him as a lucky charm. “Now I don’t have a talisman with me anymore because I believe that everyone has a guardian angel who looks after them.”

The artist, who was born in Maulbronn, gives an insight into his life in the RTLzwei docu-soap “Herr Glööckler sucht das Glück” from Wednesday.

“I think it brings luck if you are positive and see something good in every situation,” said Glööckler. As a child he owned a stuffed animal, a dog with long ears. “Because I grew up in Swabia, his name was Susile,” said the designer. He always carried the dog under his arm. “In the end he was very desolate, and his ears had to be sewn back on several times. But I didn’t want any other animal. I was happy with Susile.”

Glööckler lives in Berlin and lived for a long time in Kirchheim in the Palatinate. The six-part documentary can be seen every Wednesday (9:15 p.m.).
