Happy ending: Geiger flies to bronze with dream jumps – Olympia

In a sensational competition on the gigantic ski jumping facility in Zhangjiakou, victory went to the secret top favorite Marius Lindvik (Norway), who almost always played first fiddle in training and in the qualification. Lindvik, second after the first round, surpassed the leader Ryoyu Kobayashi with a jump to 140 meters. The cool Japanese, Olympic champion on the normal hill, couldn’t counter. 138 meters meant silver.

Horngacher: “We are all perplexed”

National coach Stefan Horngacher was overjoyed after the bronze medal and said on ZDF: “That was original Karl Geiger. Unbelievable. We are all perplexed.”

After the drama in mixed and the disappointment of the normal hill, the DSV-Adler stalked their way closer and closer to the top jumps in training on the large hill. Especially Geiger was extremely struggling – and was all the more relieved that he had achieved this individual success.

After this performance, the Germans also have top chances in the team competition on Monday (12 p.m. in the stream at sportschau.de).

More coming soon!
