Hansa Rostock brings Lukas Hinterseer from Hannover 96

Last season without a goal

FC Hansa Rostock has signed center forward Lukas Hinterseer from league rivals Hannover 96. The 31-year-old signed a contract that ran until 2024, and the clubs did not provide any information on the fee. In Lower Saxony, the Austrian’s working paper would have expired next summer.

The season in Hanover, where he only switched from Ulsan Hyundai last summer, was anything but successful for Hinterseer – only 16 appearances were recorded in the end, and the right-footed player was denied a goal in the service of the Reds.

In Rostock, which was able to keep its top striker in John Verhoek in the summer, Hinterseer should now be on the mend again. “With his experience and his qualities, Lukas is exactly the type of player we were still looking for in order to position ourselves more broadly on the offensive. A tall and physically very strong player, he is correspondingly awkward to defend and is known for his aerial ability, intense work off the ball and his ability to score goals, especially in the box. In terms of his style and attitude, he suits us very well and will certainly settle into the team and the club quickly,” explained sporting director Martin Pieckenhagen.

The offensive power comes with 143 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga and 56 Bundesliga games in the back of the Kogge. “I am extremely happy to be here. Unfortunately, in the past it never happened that I was in Rostock or played in the Ostseestadion, but even as an outsider you can of course see that Hansa is a special club with a huge fan base. With the rise and relegation it has been shown that Hansa is on the right track and what is possible here thanks to the strong team spirit. I am happy to be part of it now and to play successful football with Hansa for the next two years.”
