“It is two o’clock in the morning in Amsterdam and my daughter Zoë has just woken me up to go to the hotel bar. Wow!!”, writes Zimmer with two photos in which he poses in his bathrobe. From his pocket sticks a souvenir Oscar that his daughter had arranged for the occasion. In a later video in which he gives a thank you speech, the composer makes fun of his outfit: “Who has pajamas like mine?”, he jokes. “But seriously, this would never have happened without you!”
It is the second time that Zimmer has won an Oscar. In 1995 he received the statuette for the music of the film The Lion King. The German was nominated a total of twelve times for an Academy Award.
