Hans Välimäki advises how to make the best boiled potatoes

Boiled potato is an important part of the Christmas fish table. So does the chef Hans Välimäkiat home.

Välimäki says that the potato variety does not matter other than that it is firm.

– The potato is still flavorful even after cooking. When you want better potatoes, take advantage of it, advises Välimäki.

When the peeled potatoes are cooked and the water has been poured off, put the butter, chopped dill, lemon peel and lemon juice in the pot, put the lid on and shake lightly.

Put a cloth in the serving dish and place the potatoes inside the cloth.

The lemon refreshes the potato. Välimäki says that he buys home several kilos of lemons a week. Lemon goes well with so many dishes. A splash of lemon juice works wonders, as its acid improves the taste of food.

Although the variety of potato does not matter, Välimäki advises to avoid one favorite potato. A wooden stick is not suitable for cooking potatoes.

– Puikula is such a floury variety that it should not be cooked like puree. It breaks down quickly in boiling water.
