Hans Teeuwen gives Arjen Lubach a big swipe. The comedian criticizes the NPO star’s reporting on the war between Israel and Hamas. “A very wrong suggestion!”
The terrorist attack by Hamas on a festival site in Israel has caused a shock worldwide, but has also caused an incredible amount of discussion. The most controversial opinion expressed in the Dutch media comes from Johan Derksen: “We should also not forget that the Jews kind of asked for it!”
Hans is furious
Hans Teeuwen finds these types of opinions objectionable. He goes into one video statement loosely on Johan, but also on NPO megastar Arjen Lubach. “Jewish hatred has existed for thousands of years. We’ve had pogroms, we’ve had the Holocaust and now we have the terrorist group Hamas, which committed a horrific attack on Israeli soil.”
He continues: “Jew haters need no context at all. They hate Jews and that’s why they have to die, that’s why they have to be raped, that’s why they have to be burned. I saw a piece of Arjen Lubach yesterday and Arjen said: ‘And if something like this happens in the Netherlands, we will measure each other!’”
Beastly
But Arjen does that too, Hans shouts. “Then he went on to criticize Uri Rosenthal, because he said that no context is needed and: ‘I don’t want to hear that this has to do with the fact that Israel is oppressing the Palestinians. I don’t want to hear a ‘but’ about such an attack!’”
Hans understands that Arjen thinks differently about this. “’But’, said Arjen: ‘Two things can be true at the same time. Yes, it was a beastly attack. And Israel has been oppressing the Palestinians for years.’ “Suggesting that there was a connection that because Israel oppresses the Palestinians, Hamas kills innocent children.”
Living shield
Hamas does not just kill those children, according to Hans. “Rape them, behead them, burn them. Hamas doesn’t need a reason to kill Jews. They’re not interested at all. If there is one group that oppresses the Palestinians, it is Hamas.”
And that’s precisely why he throws up at Arjen’s perspective. “They use their own civilians as a living shield and they want to inflict as many civilian casualties as possible on the Israeli side and they hope that the Israelis will inflict as many civilian casualties as possible on their side. That’s why they have their headquarters underneath a hospital.”
Nasty
And Johan? According to Hans, he has already completely disqualified himself with his Jewish statement. “The most vile, anti-Semitic phrase I have ever heard. Hatred of Jews exists, but I had no idea how deeply ingrained it is in the culture. That it can even be in someone without them even knowing it. That is shocking to see.”
