Hans Kuipers starts a councilor’s job in Tynaarlo

With the swearing in of Hans Kuipers, the mayor and aldermen of Tynaarlo is complete again. Kuipers succeeds Miguel Ririhena as councilor on behalf of GroenLinks.

Ririhena surprised just under a month ago with the announcement of his departure. The reason for this was a difference of opinion with his ‘own’ GroenLinks faction.

Hans Kuipers’ name soon fell into the political corridors of Tynaarlo. Kuipers, although still young at 36, is a politician with experience. He was previously a councilor in Meppel, a member of the Provincial Council in Drenthe and was a deputy in the same province from 2019 to the summer of 2023.

Despite his extensive experience in politics, not the entire council appeared convinced of the appointment of the councilor from Meppel. With twelve votes in favor and nine against, we can speak of a small majority. One councilor voted blank.

The municipal council does not require Kuipers to move to Tynaarlo. The municipal council is thus making an exception to the rule that an alderman must also reside in his work area.
