The 69-year-old illusionist was hospitalized twice in a short time due to severe nausea and vomiting. It now appears that this is due to an extreme deficiency of calcium and magnesium in combination with his medication.
Hans Kazàn in and out of the hospital
Hans was also in hospital for two weeks last month. He was sent home at the end of March. He was said to be producing an extreme amount of stomach acid and that would be solved with a pill. Things went well for a while, until things went wrong again just after his birthday on 25 March. He became so nauseous again that he had to go back to the hospital. Hans received tube feeding, IVs and multiple injections, but nothing seemed to help.
‘Depressing’
This made the illusionist quite despondent: “It was hopeless. Mainly because I didn’t feel better. Nothing worked. I am a true optimist, but then I was very gloomy about everything. Really, anyone who knows me knows that I always see a bright spot. But not this time. I thought: I will never get better. I found that prospect so depressing,” said Hans to story† Fortunately, the cause is now known and things are going better.
Magnesium deficiency and calcium deficiency
Magnesium and calcium are two important minerals your body needs. A deficiency of this can have serious consequences. Read here how to recognize and prevent a magnesium deficiency and read here how to do that in case of a calcium deficiency.
It has been quite a shock for the Kazàn family before. Hans’ daughter-in-law was diagnosed with cervical cancer:
