The 68-year-old illusionist was urgently admitted after he was sick. He had not been able to keep food down for three weeks, so he had to be hospitalized in Spain, where a large part of the family lives. His wife Wendy had sent Hans to the hospital because she didn’t trust it.
There Hans had to be on an IV and he got all kinds of tests. “Spanish hospitals are very precise, so they wanted to rule out everything. I had a brain scan and my chest was examined. But luckily I didn’t have any scary things,” he says.
After a long period of uncertainty, the illusionist received good news last week: he appeared to be suffering from excess stomach acid. “I turned out to be allergic to the drugs I’m taking. I immediately stopped doing that.”
Tasty broth
He is now at home in southern Spain, and things are going much better. “Since yesterday I’ve been drinking some broth that Wendy had made. So tasty, and luckily it stayed inside.” Hans is now recovering and hopes to travel to the Netherlands in April for a performance in Dokkum. “I’m really looking forward to getting back to normal life. Delicious.”
